Product Preview: Alpine A290 / Renault 5 Coming Soon
Milltek Design is developing a wide-body conversion for the Alpine A290 and Renault 5 that builds on the cars’ original proportions while introducing a wider, lower and more assertive road presence.
The project is being conceived as a unified design system. Instead of treating each component in isolation, the arches, lower body treatment, lighting details and rear aero are intended to share one coherent visual language. The objective is to give the car stronger stance and definition without obscuring the character that makes the A290 and Renault 5 immediately recognisable.
A complete exterior design system
Extended arch package
Pronounced front and rear arch extensions add visual width and give the body a more planted, performance-led profile.
Integrated side treatment
Side-skirt trim continues the factory bodyline and visually connects the widened front and rear sections.
Reworked front signature
Development of the front daytime-running-light detail introduces a sharper and more technical expression.
Rear spoiler element
A dedicated rear aero component completes the silhouette and balances the additional visual weight of the wider body.
Designed around the original car
The strongest wide-body conversions look intentional from every angle. For this programme, the emphasis is on maintaining continuity with the factory surfacing: panel transitions, lower-body lines and the overall silhouette are developed to read as one design.
The key theme is integration: wider proportions, a lower visual centre of gravity and more aggressive detailing, while retaining the original identity of the Alpine A290 and Renault 5.
